Special considerations for Canadians in commercial real estate

Since the housing market crash in 2008, the state's real estate market has been slowly recovering. As in many other states, our neighbors in the country to the north invest in real estate here in Arizona. Whether it is commercial property, residential property or multifamily property, there are certain considerations that need to be handled in any commercial real estate transactions.

Without a settlement, contract disputes can end up in court

It is standard procedure for many Arizona companies to enter into contracts with other companies that can provide them with services or goods needed in their day-to-day operations. Vendors are most often compensated in accordance with the agreements and, sometimes, in advance. When contract disputes arise, most companies attempt to resolve the issues informally, but when that is not possible, the injured parties may take the problems to court.

Business litigation alleges illegal business practices by Starz

Arizona cable subscribers are most likely familiar with the Starz movie channel. One of its former employees has filed business litigation against the company, its CEO and the network's owner. It is alleged that the company engaged in illegal business practices in connection with the Time Warner-Comcast merger -- of which Charter Communications was a part -- that failed. He claims he was fired because he would not participate in any subterfuge.

Filing business litigation for fraudulent company sale

Buying an Arizona company requires a great deal of due diligence to ensure that all legal and business issues are explored. In many cases, it is necessary to rely on the seller to receive a good portion of that information. When it is later discovered that the seller may have committed fraud by not providing accurate information or omitted relevant details all together, it may be necessary to file business litigation in order to come to some resolution.
